Well it has been a long time since I have I written a personal post for my website. Mainly it has been because of writing for my schools paper, the UVU review, to get more professional writing experience. (see the difference?)
But mainly it has been because I didn’t feel like I had anything else to say.
I started out writing about what interested me, which was performance and productivity, and essentially exhausted everything I knew on the subject, which goes to show that I didn’t know enough to be pumping out weekly content. Since my last post I have been given time to think about what I want to do with my life, and how I want to do it.
I have been double checking my values, what kind of work I want to be doing, and how I want to do my work. I have been reading a lot, getting new ideas on how I can contribute and find meaning on a daily basis. I have been spending a lot of time coding, specifically in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, a new passion skill I have been acquiring.
I love what I can do with programming, and the deep workflow of code fits the style of work I am in to. I love sitting at desk for multiple hours and creating.
So I now feel like I have good enough foundation in web development to make a new personal website. This current one is I feel has been outgrown because I don’t get to customize anything on this site, partially another reason why I been learning to code.
The new website is going to be designed to reflect who I am as a creator and a person, the design I will use will create an ethos of how I want to be seen online, more transparent, and more simple for the viewer to see the projects I am working on. I want the content to reflect on me as a learner and document me going through the learning process for things that interest me.
I have really missed writing whatever I am thinking about, so I’m going to dedicate more time to the blog as I create the new one (the process for doing that will all be documented on this site).
As a preview, I want to share a list of things I am interested in working on in the next couple years:
Preparing for a non-profit Internship to Fiji.
Contributing to open source non-profit software projects.
Learning how to grow crops via hydroponics (I think that’s the word).
Working my way up to one armed pull-ups and push-ups..
Re-learning video editing.
learning how design a ecological self sustaining home under $200,000.
how to sketch.
I hope that documenting these things will help me actually do them!
